We’ve added another smile to the #FIO family, and this one happens to belong to our newest Alexandria orthodontist, Dr. Jenna Schneider!
If you’ve stopped by the office or follow us on social media, you’ve probably already seen her cheerful energy in action. Dr. Schneider has officially joined Dr. Lu and the FIO team, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to Alexandria.
She’s already bringing her own blend of energy, artistry, and heart to every patient she meets.
A Smile Story That Started in Middle School
Dr. Schneider’s orthodontic journey started with her own braces back in 8th grade.
“I have wanted to be an orthodontist since I was in 8th grade! I had Phase 1 and Phase 2 treatment when I was younger, and completing just the first stage of my treatment made me feel so much more confident in my smile!
Ever since then, I wanted to be able to give that same feeling to others, so began my dream of becoming an orthodontist! I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”
That moment sparked a lifelong passion for helping others feel confident in their smiles. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from NYU College of Dentistry, followed by her master’s and orthodontic residency at West Virginia University School of Dentistry.
Now, she’s bringing her expertise and enthusiasm to Northern Virginia, and we couldn’t imagine a better fit.
A Perfect Match for #FIO
So how did Dr. Schneider find her way to First Impression Orthodontics?
It all started at an AAO Leadership Conference in 2022, where she first met Dr. Lu.
“I joined First Impression Orthodontics because of Dr. Lu! We’ve known each other for about 3 years now and I have so much respect for him. Now that his practice has grown so much (and celebrated its 10th anniversary), joining FIO was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. It is the most wonderful place to practice with the most supportive and incredible team.”
Dr. Schneider shares the same FIO philosophy that every smile should be fun, empowering, and personal. She loves educating patients, getting them involved in their treatment, and making orthodontics feel approachable and exciting.
“I try to make orthodontics a fun and easy experience. Some patients come in nervous or without confidence, and it is up to us to help turn that around. I hope our patients can tell that we truly care about them. We love what we do because of them!”
And as for her favorite part of the job?
“The post-braces smile on deband day is EVERYTHING. It is the absolute most wonderful feeling.”
Leadership, Learning & Giving Back
Dr. Schneider is also passionate about leadership and advocacy within the profession. She’s involved in several roles with the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), including serving on the Council on Governmental Affairs (COGA), participating in the National Advocacy Network (NAN), and previously serving on the AAO Foundation (AAOF) board.
She was recently accepted into the Southern Society of Orthodontists Leadership Development Class of 2026 and continues to represent the next generation of orthodontic leaders with dedication and enthusiasm!
Dr. Schneider recently completed Part II of her board certification and will soon be officially board certified!
Outside the Office
When she’s not creating smiles, Dr. Schneider is probably off baking her famous sourdough chocolate chip cookies (yes, with browned butter and sea salt), exploring Great Falls National Park, or taking a hot yoga class at YogaSix in Kingstowne.
Originally from Long Island, New York, she’s loved settling into the Alexandria community, especially exploring Old Town, Mosaic District, and local farms for berry picking and sunflower fields.
“I have SO many hobbies and interests! I love baking, cooking, traveling, hot yoga, dancing, hiking, painting, spending time with family and friends, etc. I’m an ‘activity person,’ so I’m usually down for anything!”
She’s settling right into Northern Virginia life.
“Since moving here I’ve already enjoyed exploring Great Falls National Park, sunflower and berry picking at nearby farms, the Maryland Renaissance festival, hanging out in Mosaic, and walking around in Old Town Alexandria. There’s so much to do here! I’m a regular at YogaSix in Kingstowne too!”
Welcome to the Family, Dr. Schneider!
We’re so happy to have Dr. Schneider bringing her warmth, leadership, and creativity to #FIO.
The combination of her clinical skill and genuine care for patients makes her a perfect addition to our team, and we can’t wait for you to meet her!
