We have some exciting news to share: Dr. Quoc Lu of First Impression Orthodontics has been named a 2026 Top Orthodontist by Northern Virginia Magazine!
For our team, this recognition is especially meaningful because Dr. Lu has spent years combining advanced orthodontic expertise with something just as important: genuinely caring about the people behind every smile.
And as someone who was born in Vietnam and raised right here in NOVA, Dr. Lu is proud to care for the community he calls home.
What Makes Dr. Lu a Top Orthodontist in Alexandria?
Dr. Lu’s approach to orthodontics is a little different. His background blends science, technology, and art — three things that have influenced him since childhood.
Before becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Lu earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Virginia, followed by a Master of Science in Oral Biology, a Certificate in Orthodontics, and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, which he earned summa cum laude.
His early love of drawing and design also continues to influence the way he approaches orthodontics today. For Dr. Lu, creating a beautiful smile isn’t simply about lining up teeth. He considers the bigger picture, including facial, skeletal, and dental harmony, to create a result that looks and feels natural to each individual patient.
That attention to detail is one reason patients searching for a top orthodontist in Alexandria, VA choose First Impression Orthodontics for their smile transformation.
Advanced Orthodontic Care With a Personal Touch
Dr. Lu has extensive experience treating kids, teens, and adults, including complex orthodontic cases that may involve orthognathic jaw surgery. He was also formerly part of the VCU Craniofacial/Facial Reconstruction Team.
He continues to stay involved in the orthodontic profession through education, research, and leadership. Dr. Lu has contributed to medical publications and has presented orthodontic topics at national and state meetings as well as internationally. He also previously served as president of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists.
But ask Dr. Lu what matters most, and you’ll quickly see that orthodontics is about much more than credentials.
At First Impression Orthodontics, the philosophy is simple: “We treat people, not just teeth.” Every treatment plan is customized around the patient’s goals, lifestyle, and priorities. And the team works hard to make the journey positive, comfortable, and maybe even fun.
A Smile Is About More Than Straight Teeth
Dr. Lu believes a confident smile can help people become their best selves — and that philosophy is at the heart of First Impression Orthodontics.
From personalized treatment plans and advanced technology to theme days, office games, celebrations, and plenty of good energy, the First Impression experience is designed to make patients feel welcomed and supported throughout their orthodontic journey.
So, what does it mean to be recognized as a 2026 Top Orthodontist by Northern Virginia Magazine?
